A chimp adventure for a day

We are happy to guide you on an amazing trip to the beautiful Gombe Streams National Park. You will go on a once in a lifetime experience into the mountains for a 1-day chimpanzee trekking. This is a trip for those who like to escape the loud and bustling cities or for those who don`t have plenty of time while travelling. You can also extend this trip and stay for some days at the “Kasekela Luxury Tented Camp”. This gives you plenty of time to go on a 2nd chimp trekking, hike to the waterfalls and visit the Jane Goddell Research Center which is situated in the National Park.

Day 1          Heading to Western Tanzania

Are you ready for your African adventure? In the morning you head off to the airport and leave Dar es Salaam at 05h30 to Kigoma. The flight takes 02h10. Our driver awaits you at the airport and will bring you to the upmarket Kigoma Hilltop Hotel. You stay in modern double rooms with aircon and your own private deck. Watch out - there are some Zebras roaming on the property. You can spend the day exploring the town of Kigoma or maybe like to visit Ujiji just south of Kigoma. THis is the place where journalist Morgan Stanly found the explorer Dr. David Livingstone and uttered the famous words “Dr. Livingstone I supposse”. But you may also just spend some quality time at the pool and enjoy a cold drink. The views from the sundowner deck up on the hills above Kigoma are stunning and the sunset will touch your heart.

Day 2 The adventure starts …

In the early morning you take the MbaliMbali boat to Gombe Streams National Park. On this 2-hours trip along the coastline you you really will get an adventurer feeling and might think back of the days of Dr. David Livingston who was the first white person to discover this remote area.                

Gombe National Park is also the place where the famous researcher, Jane Goodall lived to study the local chimpanzee population. You can visit the research centre and the house where Jane stayed. The rangers will take you chimp trekking and you can spend up to one hour with these amazing animals in their natural environment. After your trekking you return to KIgoma where a cold drink and dinner are waiting for you.

Day 3 Byebye Gombe

We hope you enjoyed your trip, because now it`s time to move on. After breakfast a shuttle will bring you to the Kigoma Airport for your flight back to Dar es Salaam. Asante sana na karibu tena … we hope to welcome you back on day.

Optional:

You might like to spend more time in Gombe Streams National Park. And that is not a problem at all. As an option you can stay some days at the “Kasekela Luxury Tented Camp” in the National Park. This gives you plenty of time to go on a 2nd chimp trekking, hike to the waterfalls and visit the Jane Goddell Research Center which is situated in the National Park. Children under the age of 15 are not allowed to go on a chimpanzee trekking

The trip includes all park entrance fees, flights Dar es Salaam to Kigoma & transfers by shuttle or boat, as well as 18% VAT. Not included are international flights from/to Tanzania. The return flight to Dar es Salaam can be organized on request. Transfer from Dar es Salaam Airport and hotel in Dar es Salaam can be organized on request. Flight schedules might change.

A deposit of 100% is to be received within 10 days of the booking date to fully confirm a booking. Until the booking is confirmed we will hold the booking as provisional. Costs for domestic flights and accommodation at properties other than Lake Shore Lodge & Campsite are not refundable.
